Authors
Salvatore to Zelazny
R.A. Salvatore
R.A. Salvatore is a local (to Massachusetts) author of fantasy. He has
written several successful series that were published by TSR. I have
enjoyed his Forgotten Realms series which include
The Icewind Dale Trilogy and The Dark Elf Trilogy.
Cliford D. Simak
When I want to read good hardcore science fiction, I go to Cliford D. Simak.
His works includes
Waystation,
City and the
Comsic Engineers.
Christopher Stasheff
Christopher Stasheff is a science fiction and fantasy writer.
His
The Warlock Series is an enjoyable piece of science fiction.
That is right, it is science fiction not fantasy even though it is about
witches and warlocks. Two of his other series that I have enjoyed are
A Wizard in Rhyme (a fantasy series) and
Starthip Troupers (a science fiction series about a theatrical
company).
Allen Steele
Allen Steele is a science fiction writer who began his professional
writing career in 1988. His works include the novels
Orbital Decay,
Clarke County, Space,
Lunar Descent,
Labyrinth of Night,
The Jericho Iteration,
The Tranquility Alternative,
and
A King of Infinite Space. Some of his short stories
have been republished in the anthologies
Rude Astronauts,
All-American Alien Boy
and
Sex and Violence in Zero-G.
J.R.R. Tolkien
The first fantasy epic that I read was
The Lord of the Ring trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien.
His world, called Middle Earth, is rich in history and stories.
I still measure elves and dwarves that I meet in my readings
to the Tolkien standard.
Lawrence Watt-Evans
Lawrence Watt-Evans writes science fiction, fantasy and horror. My favorites
are
The Legends of Ethshar which starts with
The Misenchanted Sword and
With A Single Spell novels
and
The Three World trilogy.
Roger Zelazny
Roger Zelazny was an author of both science fiction and fantasy. He is
probably best know for his Amber series which consisted of two 5 book series.
My personal favorite of his is the
Lord of Light.
